Your Customers
You have a relationship with your existing customers and all of your previous customers that is potentially worth a lot of money and you should be mining that relationship for all it is worth. If you can spend a day or two just phoning your customers it will really help your business.
You should call those customers to thank them for their previous business, ask them how they are doing and ask them if they need anything, just spend a little time asking them questions and the answers you receive may spark an enquiry or give you some clues about new potential work in the near future.
The phone is great because you can react to what the person is saying on the other end of the line, it would also really pay to get appointments with them to show them some new products or services you have to offer (get some new products if you don’t have anything new).
Go and meet your customers and show them what you have been up to. By spending 15 minutes with these customers it will keep you in mind for future work and it could give you ideas of other products or services that they may require.
Most businesses have a bunch of ‘best customers’ and you need to make these people feel special, so you need treat them differently to the way you treat all of the other customers.
When you meet with these ‘best customers’ take a bottle of wine or a thank you card, it will go a long way.
Marketing is not just a case of continuously getting new customers, your existing customers will continue to be your customers forever if you look after them. In fact if you look after your customers you are doing them a favour because they do not have to bother with finding other reputable and trustworthy companies to deal with, go the extra mile and make your customers feel important.
When you meet with your customers one very important thing to ask for is referrals. If you can get the name of one new person who may be interested in your services from every one of your existing customers you will have a red hot list of new potential customers to contact.
